After joining the well-known Macpherson traditional family Grocery business in Swansea, a subsequent visit to Dayton, Ohio fired Peter with a personal vision of entrepreneurial success allied to helping to reshape 'modern merchandising methods' in retailing and develop innovative training for young people.

Over 25 years, alongside his family and fellow directors, Macpherson Supermarkets grew into a medium-sized regional multiple, employing 150 people in 5 supermarkets and turning over almost £10 million annually (at current prices).

In addition, Macpherson's Bakery products, principally Steak Pies, Pasties and Faggots were legendary for their quality and have passed into the folklore of Swansea.

After selling off their principal interests to KwikSave, the Directors decided to go their individual ways and Peter founded BARBICAN MARKETING which has traded successfully since 1982.
